From the Northwest Indiana Food Bank to Ivy Tech to Work One, the North Township Trustee’s office has been building partnerships the produce jobs for residents of Highland, Munster, Hammond, East Chicago and Whiting and assistance for those who need a helping hand.
The community collaboration that involved the efforts of local scouting organizations and organized labor have provided a dignified final resting place for thousands interred at Oak Hill Cemetery. Donations of wear-to-work clothing as part of the township’s “Dress for Success” program provides professional attire for residents trying to get back in to the workforce.
The efforts of a local bank helped create a community garden where once there was concrete and broken glass. Surplus computers have helped create a job-search corner at the township’s Circle of Services building in Hessville.
Where there is need, the township staff finds a willing partner and a way to help.
