REQUIREMENTS
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Must live in North Township – East Chicago, Griffith, Hammond, Highland, Munster or Whiting
- Must have proper picture identification
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must make application for food stamps
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS
The township must make some determination as to the applicant’s living arrangements.
Therefore such items may be required, but not limited to, the following:
- Current mailing address
- Lease with current address
- Driver’s license with current address
- Motor vehicle registration
- Voter’s registration card
- Utility bills with current address
- Last residence and means of support

For family units with more than 10 members, add $130 per month.
There is a $15,000 assistance cap per household in an annual year. Cases with this maximum assistance must be reviewed with our supervisor, who will consult with and receive approval or denial from the chief of staff or the trustee only.
