North Township has an Emergency Disaster Assistance plan to help low income families when disaster strikes.
When Fire Departments respond to an emergency call and find families who have lost everything, those families will be directed to the North Township Emergency Relief Team, which will assist with meals and shelter by directing families to local businesses that participate in the program.
The Township is not attempting to replace state or federal programs or charities, such as the American Red Cross. Instead, our local government will provide emergency assistance during the first 48 hours of a disaster to ensure that even those who have no resources will have a meal and a warm place to sleep.
By setting up the program with local businesses before disasters strike, the township is able to coordinate resources and direct donations to the residents who need it the most.
